I haven't seen any evidence of IVTV being in the kernel. When I brought
the kernel up initially there was nothing in dmesg about ivtv and the
/dev/video port for the PVR card was not present. I later YUM installed
ivtv and then all that stuff came to life. I put the aliases in
modprobe because thar's the way Jarod configures his systems and I was
trying to be conservative and wind up with something that would have the
best chance of working. The option statement is there to avoid the
wandering /dev/video0 problem and again I was being conservative because
I haven't seen any evidence that that problem is fixed. My game plan
was to get Mythtv up and working and then try ripping stuff out till it
breaks. It worked for Earl Madman Muntz! ;)
Good catch on the DiSEqCDevTree problem! I'll try that but that's a new
gotcha in Mythsetup because I never had to touch it on previous builds.
