Hi John,

Yes, it does seem similar. I did a little more fiddling, but
as yet to no avail.

(a) I'm running Scientific Linux 6.0, so not Fedora.

(b) I tried installing libvpx-1.0.0-1.el6 from atrpms-testing
    but that failed with these yumex error messages:

Dependency Resolution Errors:

Package: libavcodec52-0.7.11-51.el6.x86_64 (@atrpms)
    Requires: libvpx.so.0()(64bit)
    Removing: libvpx-0.9.0-8.el6_0.x86_64 (@sl-security)
        libvpx.so.0()(64bit)
    Updated By: libvpx-1.0.0-1.el6.x86_64 (atrpms-testing)
        Not found
    Available: libvpx-0.9.0-7.el6.x86_64 (sl)
        libvpx.so.0()(64bit)Package: 4:mplayer-1.0-89_snap20120210.el6.x86_64 (@atrpms)
    Requires: libvpx.so.0()(64bit)
    Removing: libvpx-0.9.0-8.el6_0.x86_64 (@sl-security)
        libvpx.so.0()(64bit)
    Updated By: libvpx-1.0.0-1.el6.x86_64 (atrpms-testing)

    Available: libvpx-0.9.0-7.el6.x86_64 (sl)
        libvpx.so.0()(64bit)

(c) I tried (with atrpms-testing repo enabled still) installing
livabcodec53 (or simply ffmpeg) but that also did not work, even
if I remove mplayer.

So I am still a bit stumped. I guess I'll just continue with the
older version of ffmpeg, which seems fine.

| Looks similar to f15/f16 problems recently. I think they got solved
| by package rebuilds but this may be useful:
