Try the following

yum install atrpms-rpm-config kernel-devel-2.6.18-238.9.1

Download the desired *.src.rpm and run

rpmbuild --rebuild <package ...>.src.rpm

It will produce the exact kmdls for the desired kernel.

Ideally you should try to stick to RHEL/CentOS/SL's upgrade practices,
if possible.
