I've just installed the new driver on f13 and so far I've seen no 
problems: but I'm not using VDPAU and there have been comments 
rubbishing the previous 260 series.  AFAIR there were some modeline 
difficulties.

Following on from the thread after the previous driver upgrade I tried 
doing it without rebooting, as follows.  This is not a recommendation, 
just a narrative, and the usual caveats apply.

After installing the new packages - just nvidia-graphics brought in the 
others - I shut down mythfrontend and mythbackend but left other 
programs running and didn't log out.  It would probably be better to do so.

Ctrl/Alt/f2 to get terminal, log in and su to be root.

telinit 3
rmmod nvidia
nvidia-graphics-switch 260.19.36
telinit 5

-this paused for several seconds after starting freshclam, then put up a 
message about duplicate clamav databases (which I thought I had 
addressed earlier, and have not returned to) and then started a new 
terminal session.  I think it then presented the X login screen running 
the new driver (according to the NVIDIA X Server Settings screen) and 
went on as normal - but already things are a bit hazy about the precise 
sequence of events and whether telinit 3 also hung briefly on freshclam.
