John,
video4linux is optional. F12 has a recent kernel, and probably the modules
are new enough to work without video4linux replacing them. Unless you have
a hardware not supported by the standard kernel modules, you are better off
without video4linux installed.
Maybe openafs is the same case, I do not know...
