Axel, I don't know enough about ffmpeg to say exactly what it is that 
isn't working correctly, but would it be possible for you to take a look 
at what this article adds to it to get mythpodcaster to work?

If not that is ok too.  :-)  thanks for all the work you do either way.

Yes, I did post my solution, but all I did was use a specially built
version of ffmpeg by following the instructions here:-

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=786095

It now works really well, although I do want to create some transcoding
profiles that create smaller files than the standard ones,
