The recursion depth errors are no real errors, the real error is the
missing translation files, and these are missing because the gtk subdir
was removed in the "latest" x264 tarballs (actually it's been two years
now ...).

Just don't try to enable gtk. :)
(unless the latest x264 tarballs ship again with gtk)
