Just a data point, I don't see these on my machine. Plenty
of frontend segvs (and even mythcommflag segvs when the comcast
signal drops far enough) but no defuncts.

This is mythtv-0.23-227_trunk_r23405.fc12.x86_64 and kernel 2.6.32.9
