Thanks for the explanation - and the packages.

I have this build installed on FE/BE boxes under both fc12/64 bit and 
CentOS 5.4/32 bit.  Once the packages were installed the transition from 
0.22-bijou was troublefree, but smart needed careful guidance to select 
the right flavour of individual packages from the other builds sharing 
the repo and/or my local cache.

Minor problems seen - no replay of dvds with mp2 sound by the internal 
player, and spurious error messages after mythcommflag --clearcutlist.

Note that neither box has VDPAU hardware or HD-PVR, and I don't have 
access to HD material.
