The new upstream of libdvdread wrote that "We are proud to announce
another release. This time, it's a dual one, because libdvdread was
split from libdvdnav and is now developed in a separate tree,
retaining API compatibility with the old upstream."

This sounds like it should not really break things, although the magic
work here is ABI compatibility.

I think k3b is a great burner. It is unfortunate that there is no
cooperation between EPEL and other repos, but to be fair Rex
preannounced this some time ago on these list, which is more than one
would expect (so many thanks and kudos to Rex!).

The libdvdread issue was a bit delicate as it looked like an upstream
hijack at the time of the fork. I haven't followed up on what happened
recently (if anything at all) - if the old upstream is still absent,
then the takeover is kind of legitimate (other than not changing the
name, I guess), and one should follow the new upstream. OTOH looking
the project up in freshmeat or google it still points to the old
upstream. Also most other distributions use the old upstream as well.
