Hello Again,
After about a week of struggling with this problem I am close to giving up .
In fedora 10 all I had to do was to modify asound.conf for spdif output (as
in the wiki guide) , and sound of all types : stereo 5.1 6.1 came flooding
out . Now after many nights of searching posts and trying various home
remedies till past midnight the best I was able to acheave was a "blip" tone
you get with a system popup window . Nothing at all from myth , vlc , xine
or mplayer . Myth is already set for passthrough as are the others too . So
far I have dabbled with the sound card detection utility , gone thoroughly
through pavucontrol hardware menu options all 20 of them with various
combinations of analogue and digital sound profiles . Checked with alsamixer
to see that iec958 is unmuted and volume is all the way up . Also editied
etc/pulse/default.pa to add spdif such as :
load-module module-alsa-sink device=spdif:0 channels=6
sink_name=alsa_surround
set-default-sink alsa_surround
But nothing has made any difference . I still get no audio from the
applications but I get the system blips when opening closing things . It
would be nice if the pulse audio config panel just had 2 buttons on it
analogue and spdif , and when you select one it would just work . This
fumbling around business in the dark is just killing me . I want to be able
to take updates on myth 22 , so I am forced to upgrade as upstream will drop
support for fedora 10 in a few days - need to get of the upgrade
merry-go-round . Oh, enough of my rant . I wander if centos sound is easier
to get going . Any help appreciated .
