[ATrpms-users] Mythtv video card question...

On my older machine (P4 2.8GHz - no hyperthreading) with an AGP nVidia
GEForce 4600 128MB card, I find that it is almost impossible to watch HD
video on mythtv without serious lagging and jerking -- this occurs for
both live tv and previously recorded playback.
My computer & graphics must be just borderline because if I switch to
mplayer, I can get a just barely passable picture without jerking.
X and the video player together take up just about 100% CPU.
So, I was thinking of upgrading the video card, though my options are
limited to AGP since I'm not ready to upgrade the motherboard.
My question is whether an upgrade to say an nVidia GeForce 6200 series
256MB will make a serious difference? (and whether applications like
mythtv and mplayer will take advantage of it)
Note: I don't care about gaming - I just want better playback with
some cycles to spare so that watching a video doesn't use up all the
cpu power. But since all the specs and reviews seem to focus on
gaming, I can't figure out whether it will help my case.
Basically, I don't want to spend the money on a new card if the
problem is my cpu or my underlying agp video architecture.
