Sorry to reply to my own message, but I just wanted to say that a Google
search for "Fedora 9 nvidia" (or something similar) does turn up several
hits which discuss this issue.  So, my comment about lack of chatter isn't
really accurate.  What I *should* have said is that I'm surprised I didn't
see anything on this list or on the MythTV lists, where discussions about
Nvidia are quite common.

Also, it looks as if the Freshrpms repo has nvidia packages that are
supposed to work with F9.  I've mixed packages from Freshrpms and ATrpms
before without having too many issues, so I may give them a shot.  If I do I
will report back on how I make out.
