You're right, that is what was happening...

I took a DVI-I to VGA adapter from another card (that shouldn't matter, right?) and 
tried it... It worked (so you are right, the problem is that it's not using the right 
port) but the picture is not pretty (colors are washed out, it looks like the red 
gred and blue "guns" signals are not in sync with each other or something like that).

I tried playing with the sync settings on my monitor (sync on green, separate, 
etc...) and the situation did not improve...

The problem is present even before the OS is loaded (when the BIOS is initalizing 
stuff) so it's either a problem with my adapter, the video card or my monitor... )-;

Thank you though, at least now I know everthing is ok on the software side, I now 
have to figure out if there anything I can do on the hardware side to correct the 
remaining problem...
