While atrpms-users is a great forum for Axel's MythTV packages, you might
consider looking at the mythtv-users generic mailing list for some of these
answers.  I believe there is a much bigger community of MythTV users on that
list that would be happy to answer your transcoding questions.  In fact,
before you ask, I'd search the archives using Gossamer Threads:
