Are you aware that dmraid is not really RAID?  Lots of folks called it "fake
RAID".  Have you considered working around the problem using the kernel's md
RAID?  If that's not an option, maybe the Ubuntu community's wiki will
help:  https://help.ubuntu.com/community/FakeRaidHowto
