That's not an autodetection, but a migration from the channel data to
/var/lib/smart/config. Probably dialogs that shouldn't really pop up
at all (if you add a channel you do want to use it, of
course). Consider it a safety feature, as it also asks you on any
change denoting the exact change (e.g. a change of URL).

There was medley-package-config, but it never had CentOS
preconfigured. Actually at sometime I had a deactivated SL
preconfigured. The problem is that the repo can be used by
RHEL/CentOS/SL/other clones the same, so I can't really add any
"standard" base repo at this time.

No, as this is not something that could be solved on a technical
basis. No matter how smart the weighing/prioritizing/filtering etc. is
set up it will create per host unique bugs.
