[ATrpms-users] CentOS and Smart with ATrpms

I've finally decided to retire the trusty old FC5 20.2-svnfixes BE/FE
and would like to escape from the Fedora upgrade cycle by using CentOS.
The 5.1 DVD install was uneventful but I've run into a niggle with
Smart. After the 3rd stage reboot and logging in for the first time I
performed the following steps:
# cd /etc/yum.repos.d/
# wget http://wilsonet.com/mythtv/atrpms.repo
# rpm --import http://atrpms.net/RPM-GPG-KEY.atrpms
# yum upgrade yum
# yum -y upgrade
<reboot>
# cd /etc/yum.repos.d/
# yum install smart smart-gui (also brings in atrpms.package.config-118)
# mv atrpms.repo atrpms.repo.~
# cp atrpms.repo.rpmnew atrpms.repo
When I ran smart for the first time, it did something odd. In the past,
it would automagically add the official Fedora repos as channels (and
ask me to confirm each) but would fail to pick up the atrpms repos. I'd
need to 'smart channel --add' them in myself.
Now - under CentOS - Smart only autodetects atrpms.repo and ignores the
existing CentOS-Base.repo (possibly because of the mirrorlist usage
rather than baseurl?)
I'm curious to learn more about Smart's autodetection mechanism but I
haven't been able to turn up anything more substantial than man pages
using google.
