This is all a bit hard for me at the moment - but I have printed out a
tutorial on how to build binary RPMs from source code. In the meantime
I've found some FC6 Extras RPMs which seem to work on Centos 5.1 at
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/extras/6/

It's not the latest version but I can live with that for now. If I
make any headway with the RPM build I'll let you know.
