[ATrpms-users] FC6 kernel upgrade lost /proc/acpi/alarm -- why?

Last week I upgraded my kernel (along with everything else) from
    kernel-suspend2-devel.i686 2.6.20-1.2952_1.fc6.cubbi_suspend2.
In the process, yum installed these, making the suspend2 kernel the
primary / default choice in grub.conf (from yum.log):
    Aug 31 11:06:04 Installed: kernel.i686 2.6.22.2-42.fc6
    Aug 31 11:06:21 Installed: kernel.i686 2.6.22.1-32.fc6
    Aug 31 11:06:41 Installed: kernel-suspend2.i686 2.6.22.2-42_1.cubbi_suspend2.fc6
    Aug 31 11:07:13 Installed: kernel-devel.i686 2.6.22.2-42.fc6

Since I use this system for MythTV, I want to be able to set the ACPI alarm to wake
the system up to capture shows automatically, so I was unhappy, to say the least, when
I discovered today that /proc/acpi/alarm doesn't exist!

Why did this happen, how do I fix it, and how do I make sure this doesn't happen again?

Any ideas?

Craig.
