I think it is just necessary to add it in
/etc/smart/channels/xxxx.channel

This is what I have there for freshrpms. The first url is the main repo.
The second is a mirror, which is going to be used if the main repo times
out.
Note again, this is for FC6x86_64. Second, I do not use smart. You will have
to try it for yourself.
Yum works this way, so I am guessing smart is the same.
