I don't use apt/yum, because I build my distro using a custom script. I build a fedora distro on a i386 server from which the mac-mini netboots. So I normally resolve dependencies by hand, and with some intelligence in the script. Anyway, if I install mplayer, I get this dependency error:
libdirectfb-1.0.so.0 is needed by mplayer-1.0-60_r23482.fc7_90.ppc
and libdirectfb-1.0.so.0 is in libdirectfb-1.0_0-1.0.0-14.fc8.arch.rpm which doesn't exist for arch=ppc, at least I can't find it on your website, or the mirror I use:ftp://ftp-stud.fht-esslingen.de/pub/Mirrors/atrpms/dl.atrpms.net/f8-ppc/atrpms/stable/
