If you are setting ampache for the first time,  you should read

/usr/share/doc/ampache-3.3.3.5/README.FEDORA

You have to create the database in mysql according to the instructions
above.
Then you have to create a password for admin in ampache. The easiest way,
the first time,
is setting

set use_auth = "no" in /etc/ampache.cfg

This is what I did and never had any problem since then (a great program,
indeed).

I tried to adapt the README.FEDORA the best I could (it came from a suse
equivalent).
But maybe something is still missing.
