yumex seems to be working fine here. I would try a plain yum check-update
first.
If it does not work I would clean the cache in /var/cache/yum/

The problems I am having so far is that I had to recompile a lot of packages
to have
a usable multi-media system.
This thing of free/non-free/mole is nuts. Packages like xine, gxine,
kaffeine, etc...
are compiled differently and it is better to wipe them out and have a
unified
self compiled version that really works (it stopped the freezings in full
screen and fast advance) .
Alsa-lib/plugins was also giving me troubles and was recompiled too.
