I just want to add that interestingly enough, when I try wget on a
different web server other than dl.atrpms.net, the connections are
gone immediately after the transfer is complete -- nothing appears in
the netstat output.

I was not able to repeat my test on dt.atrpms.net because my IP
71.224.245.165 has been blacklisted again. :-|
