There is one issue that bothers me though.

I have an onboard soundcard which I have disabled in the BIOS and my PCI 
soundcard which I'm only using the spdif output from.

The disabled onboard soundcard is somehow recognised by all kernels later than 
2.6.19 (previous kernels didn't find the disabled chip as it should).

I have tried to enable the onboard chip but I still get the same result 
though.
