yum needs some help sometimes:
yum install nvidia-graphics9755-kmdl-`uname -r`
Try smart instead. smart is a bit smarter in picking up kernel and kmdls.

Install yum-plugin-kmdl. There is an even better method w/o having to
install this plugin.

Yes, it's a known problem. Just install fakeroot and complain loudly
to nvidia. The root restriction is artificial, it's not required
anywhere.
