Yes, of course ;)

I found that I have to load saa7127 _before_ ivtv and ivtv-fb - if I
don't (e.g. if I loaded saa7127 by hand as implied by some howtos) I
suffer the "diagonal mess" problem on my output.

The following modprobe.conf entry also ensures saa7127 is loaded first
on boot:
install ivtv /sbin/modprobe saa7127; /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install
ivtv; /sbin/modprobe ivtv-fb

Using saa7127 from the video4linux-kmdl package I could see the
test_image, though it looked as though it didn't have vertical lock (a
"rolling" image). I've reported this on ivtv-devel:

Rebuilding the stock F7 kernel with saa7127 included as a module gave me
a stable test_image.

There seems to be progress on re-including saa7127 in Fedora kernels:
