Uhm... Here's the thing: Using system-config-network (which I kind of like
and used to work), the Hardware tab shows the card as wifi0 with no
intervention from me. Spiffy, no? And yet, if I click New on the Devices
tab, the card only appears if I select Ethernet.

So how do I get ath0 to appear instead of wifi0 (if it matters)?

And once I do, how do I get s-c-n to believe it's a Wireless card
automatically?

I was using the FirstTimeHowTo, and that wasn't as useful. Bah.

The ATRpms madwifi changes modprobe.conf, but only to add the wifi0 alias.
It does NOT add lines for ath0 or the autocreate. (BTW, the Livna code makes
a new file /etc/modprobe.d/madwifi and does include all three lines... and
it still doesn't work.)

Once those lines were added, a new Hardware appeared. The Atheros (wifi0)
still appears as an Ethernet device, but now there's an ath_pci (ath0)
Wireless device.

Maybe next time I can remember to look at the Redhat-specific instructions.
:) I had used them last night, but forgot about that page this morning.

Thanks again for your patience,
Chris
