I've been following the steps at
http://lunapark6.com/usb-hdtv-tuner-stick-for-windows-linux-hauppauge-wintv-hvr-950.html
to get my USB TV tuner to load. I installed
video4linux-kmdl-2.6.22.2-42.fc6-20070731-81.fc6 from atrpms for this.
[mythtv at mediapc ~]$ rpm -q --whatprovides
/lib/modules/2.6.22.2-42.fc6/updates/drivers/media/video/em28xx/em28xx.ko
video4linux-kmdl-2.6.22.2-42.fc6-20070731-81.fc6
I get error messages when I try to load it:
[mythtv at mediapc ~]$ sudo modprobe em28xx
FATAL: Error inserting em28xx
(/lib/modules/2.6.22.2-42.fc6/updates/drivers/media/video/em28xx/em28xx.ko):
Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
>From dmesg I get:
em28xx: disagrees about version of symbol video_unregister_device
em28xx: Unknown symbol video_unregister_device
em28xx: disagrees about version of symbol video_device_alloc
em28xx: Unknown symbol video_device_alloc
em28xx: disagrees about version of symbol video_register_device
em28xx: Unknown symbol video_register_device
em28xx: disagrees about version of symbol video_device_release
em28xx: Unknown symbol video_device_release
It seems to be the right driver for my kernel:
[mythtv at mediapc ~]$ modinfo em28xx
filename:
/lib/modules/2.6.22.2-42.fc6/updates/drivers/media/video/em28xx/em28xx.ko
[mythtv at mediapc ~]$ uname -a
Linux mediapc.mapleshouse.com 2.6.22.2-42.fc6 #1 SMP Wed Aug 15 11:52:47 EDT
2007 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
What should I be doing to be able to use this driver and my ivtv driver at
the same time?
As an aside, I'm confused about the video4linux ivtv driver and the ivtv-fb
driver. Does one depend on the other?
[mythtv at mediapc ~]$ rpm -q --whatprovides
/lib/modules/2.6.22.2-42.fc6/kernel/drivers/media/video/ivtv/ivtv.ko
kernel-2.6.22.2-42.fc6
[mythtv at mediapc ~]$ rpm -ql ivtv-kmdl-2.6.22.2-42.fc6-1.0.2-134.fc6
/lib/modules/2.6.22.2-42.fc6/updates/drivers/media/video
/lib/modules/2.6.22.2-42.fc6/updates/drivers/media/video/ivtv-fb.ko
Thanks for all you hard work, Axel.
John
