In case anyone else is struggling with something similar...
I never could get the nvidia drivers prior to 100.xx.xx to work on FC7
2.6.22.4-65. However, after much trial and error I discovered that
Composite extensions are enabled by default in FC7. Composite was causing
VSync issues when a missing or damaged frame was encountered during playback
of a recording; this resulted in the interlaced fields being reversed and
the video appearing jittery/tearing until it reset on a good frame. I found
that disabling Composite fixed this issue and gives me stable playback at
1080i.
I added the following section to my xorg.conf (the same one I used with FC5
and nvidia-graphics9746)...
Section "Extensions"
Option "Composite" "Disable"
EndSection
Now I get stable 1080i playback using XvMC without deinterlacing.
PS- I said I enabled Bob before, however, because of pixelclock limitations
on my card 2x framerate was not possible and Mythtv fell back on onefield.
This made for degraded video quality and higher cpu util. But, by
deinterlacing the video it did fix the reversed interlaced field problem I
was seeing with the vertical sync was messed up.
