It's not a kernel, it is a kernel module for a kernel rpm. Just pick
the kmdl that matches the kernel you want to use it for, e.g. try

echo madwifi-kmdl-`uname -r`

To see how the package is named.

The easiest way, of course, is to just point yum/apt/smart to atrpms
and do

yum install madwifi madwifi-kmdl-`uname -r`
