This is weird, I have worked the changeset down to this when doing a "smart
upgrade":
Upgrading packages (7):
fuse-2.7.0-3_7.fc7 at i386
hibernate-tuxonice-1.96-1cubbi2 at noarch
kernel-headers-2.6.22.1-41.fc7 at i386
kernel-tuxonice-2.6.22.1-41_1.cubbi_tuxonice.fc7 at i686
mkinitrd-tuxonice-6.0.9-7.1.cubbi2 at noarch
userui-tuxonice-0.7.2-1.fc7.cubbi1 at i386
userui-tuxonice-fbsplash-0.7.2-1.fc7.cubbi1 at i386
Installing packages (2):
fuse-kmdl-2.6.22.1-41.fc7PAE-2.7.0-3_7.fc7 at i686
kernel-PAE-2.6.22.1-41.fc7 at i686
Removing packages (1):
fuse-kmdl-2.6.21-1.3228_1.fc7.cubbi_suspend2-2.6.5-2_7.fc7 at i686
I thought it had something to do with fuse because it's that one that seemed
to trigger the install of the PAE kernel because doing a "smart install
fuse" would result in:
Upgrading packages (1):
fuse-2.7.0-3_7.fc7 at i386
Installing packages (2):
fuse-kmdl-2.6.22.1-41.fc7PAE-2.7.0-3_7.fc7 at i686
kernel-PAE-2.6.22.1-41.fc7 at i686
Well that seemed obvious so I thought to see what "smart install
kernel-tuxonice" would do:
Upgrading packages (5):
fuse-2.7.0-3.fc7 at i386
hibernate-tuxonice-1.96-1cubbi2 at noarch
kernel-tuxonice-2.6.22.1-41_1.cubbi_tuxonice.fc7 at i686
mkinitrd-tuxonice-6.0.9-7.1.cubbi2 at noarch
userui-tuxonice-0.7.2-1.fc7.cubbi1 at i386
Removing packages (1):
fuse-kmdl-2.6.21-1.3228_1.fc7.cubbi_suspend2-2.6.5-2_7.fc7 at i686
Wait a sec, what is fuse doing there? And why doesn't it try to install
another kernel now? Maybe it's one of the missing packages that it installs
doing an upgrade? (compare the "upgrade" above with this one, there are 2
extra packages: kernel-headers and userui-tuxonice-fbsplash).
So I tried a "smart install kernel-tuxonice userui-tuxonice-fbsplash" which
results in exactly the same list as the upgrade but without installing the
PAE kernel!
Somebody will probably understand but I sure don't :-)
Just out of curiosity, why the name change to "tux on ice"?
Cheers,
-Tako
