Have you modified any alsa conf files? E.g. what does rpm -V alsa-lib
say? If there are modified config file,s but you didn't modify them,
reinstall alsa-lib to make sure that these config files are proper. If
you had to modify anything, reinstall and do these mods again. Finally
if this is not the issue, do alsa-lib and libasound2 properly match
up in version/release?
Also please try with aplay first before myth or mplayer.
