Ditto that here.  I upgraded from 2.6.17 to 2.6.18 and in the process
smart wanted to go from nvidia-graphics8774 to 8776 but decided also
that it couldn't keep 8774.  This would not have been a problem if
a) ivtv worked properly on 2.6.18 instead of complaining about firmware
timeouts when the module loads
b) 8776 was available on 2.6.17 when I decided to go back to 2.6.17

A quick rpm --nodeps --force later and it works again but I don't want
to think what state my rpms are in ...
