OK, suspend works fine then, the easy part :)

So resuming seems to work too. Are you able to log into the machine by
SSH?

You might need something like vbetool I think. You can also try to use
"acpi_sleep=s3_bios" on the kernel commandline.

So it is most likely a Xorg/graphic driver issue.
Have you already tried to use
SwitchToTextMode yes
in /etc/hibernate/common.conf?

Generell it should be working, yes, at least for me it does.
You can also try to use a new 2.6.18 kernel. I just uploaded a testing
build to http://mhensler.de/swsusp/ (2.6.18-1.2189_FC5).
