Well, you did update ffmpeg (one of the decoder library options), so
it's possible there is an issue with packaging with that library.
More interesting however: it shows libmpeg2_0 (the other decoder library
option that isn't XvMC) as "Installed" , not "Updated" (as in not
previously existing). One possibility may be that you were set for
libmpeg2 in the "Preferred Decoder" config, but since it wasn't
installed it switched to ffmpeg (or another decoder library). When you
ran the update, libmpeg2 was a required dependency of something (or it
wouldn't have installed) so it got installed, allowing it to be used
instead, and it's not performing as well.
If that's the case, then we are back to my suggestion of twiddling
around with the stuff on that first "Playback" screen. (Particularly
"Preferred Decoder.")
