Yes, the proper kmdl for an i686 smp processor is the one w/o "smp"
attached.
That's because there is no kernel-smp anymore for i386 and x86_64. The
normal kernel package already has smp support in it. And since there
is no kernel-smp, there can't be an kmdl-.*smp either :)
Just go ahead, install FC6 and use the usual setup steps you take and
all will be OK, e.g. yum install ipw3945-kmdl ipw3945-kmdl-`uname -r`
