I think that happens because download.fedora.redhat.com is redirecting
you to other mirrors and if one of them has broken metadata you're
foobar'd.
Therefore cleanse your yum metadata under /var and remove
download.fedora.redhat.com. Replace it with one of the mirrors you
know is working and you have good bandwidth connection to.
I hope this fixes these issues. BTW ATrpms' config never uses
download.fedora.redhat.com, that's why most ATrpms users are not
seeing this issue.
