I assume 2.6.16-1.2111_FC5 is brand new. Usually, Axel builds a fresh 
batch of kernel modules within 48-72 hours after the introduction of a 
new kernel (if there is no major problem -- some of the new kernels are 
duds). Which is spectacular, since our host has a real life outside 
ATrpms :)

In the meantime, be patient and do not remove the "old" kernel before 
you check the new one (including the kmdl installed). You'll still be on 
the bleeding edge with a 2.6.16 kernel -- some other distros still run 
stuff which we used to run 6 months or even a year ago.

This is quite simple: exclude the kernel from your next yum update. It 
goes like this:

[root at fedora ~] # yum update --exclude=kernel
