Heh, checked it out, and it is on by default. More looking around and it 
turned out my test was flawed; apparently, the default httpd.conf for 
some unfathomable reason had KeepAlive Off, something that hadnt crossed 
my mind as a possibility (especially since I'd checked it so it wasnt 
downgrading urlgrabber or had a very low keepalive timeout or 
anything...). Once keepalive was on on the webserver, yum keeps the 
connection up, just like it should.

Oh, well, back to square one, got blocked a lot while I was using 
dl.atrpms.net, and no idea why :).
