[ATrpms-users] ipw3945 fails for kernel-2.6.16-1.2133_FC5smp

Have been using the ipw3945/ieee80211 modules on a Lenovo 3000 N100
laptop (after reading the March threads on the topic) with good success
on kernel-2.6.16-1.2122_FC5smp (Thanks!), except for the inability to
get WPA to work (using 128bit WEP) and the following (apparently
innocuous) error when networking starts:

Bringing up interface eth1:  Error for wireless request "Set Bit
Rate" (8B20) :
    SET failed on device eth1 ; Invalid argument.

Relevant output from dmesg:

Now the real issue.  Just tried updating to kernel-2.6.16-1.2133_FC5smp
and corresponding ipw3945/ieee80211 modules but get the following errors
on boot before a total lockup:

Also tried testing versions and UP kernel with similar results.

If I try to update to ipw3945d-1.7.19-2.at smart wants to remove ipw3945
and all ipw-3945-kmdl-* packages. (Perhaps that's a separate issue?)
