[ATrpms-users] alsaconf crashes system

this module will load but does not work (and alsaconf will crash
entire system..)
/lib/modules/2.6.16-1.2115_1.rhfc4.cubbi_swsusp2/updates/sound/pci/
snd-via82xx.ko
and this one

snd-via82xx.ko
does not load and throws a bunch of symbol and version disagreements
is there some further way I could be troubleshooting this? I like
having sound. I guess I could try to compile my own kernel module and
see how that goes.
