Of course you can use nvidia drivers with FC5's default kernel only
not nvidia's AGPGART.
Just setup your system to use the "nv" driver which FC5 will do
automatically. Then simply install the nvidia-graphics package and
xorg.conf will already have a proper default setup that will work (but
w/ the kernel's AGPGART). Once you're at that point you can still
think about switching to a kernel with modular AGP kernel modules, so
you can use nvidia's, but I recommend to get first to the standard
nvidia setup, maybe you'll already be satisfied, or at least will have
seen it's installation procedure.
