It is, but most people are happier with the new one.

Maybe your hardware has some issues? This should better be discussedon
the ivtv lists, copying ivtv-users. Maybe it would help to post the
ivtv logs to identify the model. Eitehr it's someone no one has, and
maybe ivtv needs some support for your tuner model, or someone can
confirm that this hardware works/works not.
