Somehow it's solved now, but I have no idea how. I just rebooted several times 
and things started to work.

This box has real strange behaviour ever since I upgraded to FC5.
Once the box is running, it's stable but at every reboot I have a different 
outcome to what things may or may not work. This is some very strange issue.
Fortunately I hardly ever reboot.
