Matt,

Check your system message log to see if the ivtv driver stopped responding.

Try powering down the machine completely then wait while before starting 
it up again.  I had a similar issue and someone suggested it may be a 
overheating problem with the TV card.  I didn't add a fan to the TV card 
but I did allow it to cool down by shutting down the machine.  I'm 
thinking, however, that the problem may have been that I just needed to 
power down the machine completely instead of just restarting.  I'll be 
monitoring it for the next few days to see if it returns.  This issue 
just showed up for me when I upgraded to the ivtv 0.7.0 drivers.
