Just a few months ago I went through the same thing.
And at the end, I rebuilt the whole RAID array.

Now I would love to be proven wrong...
The web interface only gave me the same options as available in the
bios utility.
This was on a FreeBSD server, maybe the linux version has more options.

this was assuming you weren't going to add drive to your existing
array but create a new array, in which case of course you can add any
drive.
If it's to add drive to an existing array (if you can) then yes I
would add the exact same drive
