Can you file a bug for upgrading alsa at bugzilla.atrpms.net? There is
already alsa 1.0.11rcsomething in 2.6.16, but there have been lots of
requests now to get alsa packages for supporting Intel's HBA. If your
system works with the alsa shipped in 2.6.16, there's nothing you need
to do, though.
