[ATrpms-users] OT - Using an FC3 RPM on FC4 System

All:
Sorry to go slightly off-topic -- especially about one of Dag Wieers' RPMs
-- but I'm hoping one of the RPM gurus here might have a quick answer (and
my email to Dag has bounced).
Does anyone know of any issues with using Dag Wieers'
transcode-0.6.14-1.1.fc3.rf.rpm package on an FC4 system?
I'm trying to use transcode to create animated DVD menus under the Mythburn
scripts for MythTV. According to this thread on the MythTV user site
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/users/148141, one has to use
transcode 0.6.14 for the animated menus to work. The only problem is that
I'm on FC4 and the last version of transcode 0.6.14 is for FC3. I tried
using Dag's source RPM, but due to some changes from gcc3 to gcc4, it
doesn't compile (I started working through the issues, but it just got to be
too many, and I'm a little rusty on C++ anyway!!).
Simplest solution appears to be using the FC3 RPM, but I don't know if that
will hose my FC4 system (not to mention the headaches with having to
maintain it on future upgrades).
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
George
